The 60-year-union between Coca-Cola and FIFA has been nothing short of creative and trailblazing since Coca-Cola’s days of merely advertising at every FIFA World Cup in 1950. So successful has it been, that their offsprings (football fans and Coca-Cola consumers), will benefit from the perfectly blissful union.
This year, the majestic duo has scored a landmark goal by embarking on a FIFA promotion that will leave Jamaican tongues wagging for months to come. As the longest-standing corporate partner of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Coca-Cola has gained exclusive rights to retain 12 Jamaican students between the ages of 12-16 to travel to South Africa to become official flag bearers at the opening ceremony for the World Cup. |

From the Ben Franklin to the Whitman, Island Avenue to Kensington, Philadelphia is teeming with people trying to make it in the entertainment industry. We hear names dropped like Flippa Mafia, El Feco, E Ness, Summer Angel, Eve, Cassidy and Beanie Sigel. Seldom do we take notice of the people making sure the music gets heard. The disc jockeys, the selectors; and Philadelphia has as many of those as it does aspiring music artists. But few stand out for both the Caribbean and mainstream massive. Rated high in this group is Proper Tone Sound.

“Whagwaan?” “What’s happening?” To some it may be the hip new phrase immortalized by Sean Kingston. To many more, it’s an everyday greeting out of Jamaica. To the people of Camden, and the surrounding cities and states, it’s impacting the very community in which they live, in the form of Whagwaan Entertainment.
Whagwaan Entertainment was formed in the summer of 2004 by a group of young black entrepreneurs hoping to be of service to the area’s Caribbean population and expose the American mainstream to Jamaican and Caribbean culture. They planned to do this through the sale and distribution of various products and services linked to Jamaica and the neighboring islands.

Wicked lyrical flow. Hot instrumentals. Unique blend of reggae/dancehall, hip-hop and classic R&B. A "Certified" hit. All describe TEFF’s Philadelphia Certified, a nearly flawless compilation by Philadelphia's self-proclaimed "Youngest Veteran", T-E-double F, and the latest mix-tape to leave the studios of Tuchpoint Music.
American-born and Jamaican-made, the 26- year-old rides a wave of versatility in his songs that prevents anyone from classifying his work into one particular genre. In an industry where mainstream listeners become restless quickly and record execs find it difficult to correctly market yardie vibes, this may be a blessing and a curse. |
