The Miss Caribbean U.S. pageant is a yearly event that seeks to highlight the talent, beauty and diversity of the Caribbean diaspora within the United States.

The pageant has grown into a much anticipated community affair which rallies organizations, sponsors and individuals around the ideals of Caribbean progress and unity.

KINGSTON, JA – “Defranco – Journey,” the new four (4) track EP from international recording artist Defranco, showcases the range and diversity of the Jamaica-born singer/songwriter/musician who is best known for his stirring, conscience-raising ode “Got to Change.”

“Defranco – Journey” is a smooth mixture of soul and reggae laid over authentic reggae instrumentals. Defranco says these songs have special meaning to him as they detail various points in his life. “Got to change”, it is a very personal song to me. I wrote it about someone I knew who was making bad decisions affecting their life and the lives of the people around that cared most. This is a song of warning and encouragement, a song that inspires life changes and positivity.

New York, NY. – DJ Short-E and some of New York’s top-rated entertainment companies will launch the “Tri State Star Search” this Spring/Summer. It begins its regional search for this year’s contestants on May 30th. Auditions will be held at The Producers Club conveniently located just off Times Square. The tentative dates for auditions will be held every Wednesday for 8 weeks.

New York: German’s multi-platinum singjay Gentleman, currently on his first major North & South America tour stopped in New York City last week to launch his new VP album ‘Diversity’ at the trendy Le Poisson Rouge in Manhattan.

The award-winning artist, one of the hottest reggae recorders in Europe mesmerized New York fans with choice cuts from his new disc. Working with his Evolution band in tow, the talented sinjay effortlessly moved from one style to the next, taking fans on a musical stroll with songs like ‘Good Old Days,’ ‘Different Places,’ ‘Jah Inna Yuh Life,’ ‘Changes’ and his 2005 hit ‘Intoxication’ which drew the first encore of the night.

Last time I crossed paths with music artist, writer, director and producer Delus, we were in the studio of web radio station Caribbean 94 in Philadelphia. He had just released My Reality and was wrapping up a promotional tour.  Another well-received tune, “Another Gal”, and a tour in Japan followed.   It was definitely a good year.

Dancehall and reggae artiste, Chino McGregor has released a new video for one of his latest singles, Hustler.

The video concept, like the lyrics, pays homage to all ambitious persons and is reminiscent of another of his singles, Work, which was not only featured on his US album, Chino, but also makes a brief appearance at the end of the Hustler video.

Costa Rica: The 2012 installment of “Carnival Puntarenas,” the third of the three “major” festivals of the season in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, proved to be another spectacular affair for the more than 40,000 music lovers who converged for the beach side concert in the capital city to see Jamaican reggae star Ky-mani Marley set the day to music.

When the young Marley, son of reggae icon Bob Marley, hit the stage backed the band Konfrontation, excitement and pandemonium broke out in anticipation of the tasty musical treat that was to follow. Marley blazed the stage for well over 120 minutes, delivering a dynamic litany of songs, from his father’s repertoire as well as some from his own catalogue.
